As the population of Cedar Lake, Indiana, continues to grow, so does the need for accessible, modern public safety services. To meet this demand, the town constructed a state-of-the-art 24,400-square-foot Public Safety Center, housing the Police, Fire, and EMS departments under one roof. This centralized facility allows for optimized infrastructure, improved coordination, and enhanced emergency response capabilities.
Collaborative Design for a Critical Facility
To bring this vision to life, Commercial Office Environments (COE) partnered with civil engineering firm Veridus Group and design firm K2M Design to furnish the space with high-quality, functional, and durable solutions.

- Designed offices, workstations, training areas, and sleeping quarters for emergency personnel
A Space Designed for Functionality and Comfort
COE’s Account Executive Whitney Raver and Design Manager Kelly Baker led the effort in selecting furniture tailored to the needs of public safety officers. By leveraging a combination of Haworth, AIS, and other manufacturers, the team ensured the facility was efficient, well-equipped, and built to withstand the demands of first responders.
