Creating a Productive Workplace: Part Four

FROM LAYOUT TO LIGHTING, WHAT DO YOU NEED TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION?

USE THE RIGHT LIGHT

Oftentimes, people tend to think that the more lighting used, the better. But in the increasingly digital age, where employees tend to stare at screens and strain their eyes in order to get work done, it’s important to consider what kind of light is being used—especially blue light. Many workplaces have fluorescent lights, but studies have shown that too much of it can disrupt sleep cycles, further hindering productivity.

One way to combat this is by using the traditional fluorescent light under an overhead (or LED) for energy savings along with a freestanding desk lamp gives different levels of light. The freestanding light allows the users to move the light to him or her to get it exactly where it is needed to reduce eye strain and increase efficiency.

Utilizing more natural light can help reduce eye strain and headaches, improve moods and help re-energize employees, so if you’ve got windows around the office, make sure you let the light in! And when the sun goes down, your florescent light and other desk lamp and lighting options will come into play to help keep you on your toes and moving forward.
